By on 13 May, 2014

On 19 May 2014, the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN) will be delivering a masterclass as part of Macquarie University’s ‘Genes to Geoscience’ series.

This masterclass will provide an introduction to TERN’s data infrastructure, the kinds of ecosystem data now available thanks to TERN, and ways that you can access this data. It will also cover data management and publishing, and look at the new tools available (including some from TERN) to help researchers make the most of their data.

This masterclass is open to anyone. To attend please email

Details are available on the TERN website, and below:

Ecosystem data and TERN: making the most of TERN to benefit your research and data management

Monday 19 May 2014

10am – 3pm (lunch included)

Macquarie University, Seminar room E6B 136

TERN is providing access to a wealth of Australian ecosystem data, and enabling broad participation of researchers in data publication. Some of the ecosystem data now available through TERN’s infrastructure includes species lists from more than 100,000 plots, high resolution maps of soil and remote-sensed data, and estimates of GPP and transpiration from vegetation.  TERN also offers tools and repositories for managing your own data. This masterclass will give an overview of the new ecosystem data resources available, how you can access it, and how you can take advantage of new tools and infrastructure to benefit your research and data management.
