The pilot phase of Victoria’s ePlan Portal initiative has come to a successful conclusion, with 32 surveying organisations having created 324 ePlans using the Portal from October 2021 to December 2022.

The purpose of the pilot was to put to the test the full range of services involved in ePlan creation and discover any ways in which the whole process could be improved.

Organisations taking part were encouraged begin with simple plans as they became accustomed to using the Portal, before moving on to larger plan submissions such as those associated with estates in greenfield development zones. Training and support were provided.

Feedback from participants led to 11 releases of functionality improvements, with the collaborative approach helping to refine and develop a fuller appreciation of user requirements.

Following completion of the pilot, Surveyor-General Victoria (SGV) released a questionnaire to gauge the surveying sector’s readiness to adopt ePlan and to seek further feedback. SGV is planning further engagement opportunities to encourage wider adoption of the system.
