PNT experts to gather at the IGNSS 2024 conference

The full program for next week’s International IGNSS Association (IGNSS) conference is now available, revealing a program packed with a breadth of interesting topics and high-level speakers.

IGNSS 2024 will run from 7 to 9 February 2024 at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

The conference will feature multiple Technical Sessions covering topics such as:

  • PNT in space
  • Atmosphere and ionosphere
  • Alternative PNT
  • Geodesy
  • Precise Point Positioning (PPP)
  • PPP and RTK
  • Autonomous Systems
  • Resilience
  • Infrastructure
  • GNSS reflectometry
  • Navigating Our Future: Unlocking Australia’s Positioning Potential (hosted by Positioning Australia)

One of the highlights of the Conference will be the holding of a concurrent meeting of the US Civil GPS Service Interface Committee International Information Subcommittee (CPSIC IIS). This group focuses on the needs of the international GPS user community by hosting information exchanges throughout the world and collecting inputs from users outside the United States. The meeting sessions are incorporated within the conference program and will offer US perspectives on PNT.

There will also be a theme of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) in Space, with a special keynote that will explore the latest advancements in PNT technology in the context of space applications.

The Positioning Australia team will be returning to the conference to share news and updates about activities, infrastructure and services such as SouthPAN, Ginan Analysis Software, the National Positioning Infrastructure and more.

The Service Provider Session will give attendees the opportunity to hear the latest news in the PNT , with representatives from the major service providers (GPS, Galileo, QZSS) on hand to present updates on their programs.

One of the main highlights of the event will be the opening keynote address, to be presented by Dr Bradford Parkinson, renowned as the ‘Chief Architect of GPS’. Parkinson will speak via video link from his home in California, about the technical and organisational issues that he and his team faced in the early days of GPS.
