Parazero pyrotechnic parachute systems for DJI Matrice 200 and 600 can now be purchased through CR Kennedy under a new partnership.

The SafeAir systems for DJI Matrice 200 and 600s monitor operational parameters while the drone is in flight, cutting power to the rotors and deploying a ballistic parachute system in the event of a critical failure — even featuring an audio buzzer to warn bystanders of the aircraft’s descent.

In announcing the partnership, CR Kennedy’s Robert Kennedy said that they evaluated competing systems and found the Parazero solution to be the best performing in their tests.

“Drones are becoming increasingly popular and safety has been a major matter of discussion in the drone community,” he said.

“Also, some drones have expensive payloads such as professional cinematography cameras, sensor payloads such as LiDAR, thermal and other costly devices. ParaZero’s product SafeAir, will be of high interest to commercial users who operate drones in the vicinity of people or who mount expensive payloads to their UAVs.”

Parazero claims their system helps prevent injury to bystanders, insurance activation, damage to aircraft and payload — and damage to company brand.

It certainly seems that it would assist in mitigating many risks associated with conducting an RPAS operation, and would potentially aid in acquiring necessary permissions and area approvals for operating in areas of signficant risk to third parties.

Parazero has also partnered with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty insurance, meaning that SafeAir customers are eligible for discounts and incentives on insurance through that provider.
