Trimble RTX Corrections delivers two-centimetre accuracy

By on 8 August, 2018

Trimble’s GNSS corrections service can now offer accuracy of better than two centimetres in the horizontal plane.

Attainable with their premium RTX Centerpoint service, Trimble claims this represents RTK-level accuracy via their satellite-delivered service, outside traditional Virtual Reference Station (VRS) networks, making it ideally suited to remote locations.

The system can also achieve full accuracy with a convergence period of 15 minutes, and corrections are available via an internet or mobile data connection, which drops to as low as one minute for areas where the RTX Fast network is available — which includes North America and Europe, but not Australia at present.

“Trimble RTX performance and reliability are changing the positioning game for users who never considered a satellite-delivered correction service for applications traditionally requiring RTK-level accuracy,” said Patricia Boothe, vice president of Trimble’s Advanced Positioning Division.

“Trimble RTX offers a global solution delivering similar performance to VRS where terrestrial networks are not available.”

The network has selectable accuracy from metre to centimetre level, with the RTX satellite network also forming the backbone of the firm’s xFill service, which provides a backup network service for RTK and VRS users to allow work to continue in the event of a dropped connection.
