1Spatial, an ICT provider and a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), recently announced that it has achieved reselling rights for the Oracle Exadata Database Machine.

This comes just shortly after 1Spatial lost reseller status for Pitney Bowes software, due to a ‘business decision’ on Pitney Bowes’ part. See update, below.

The 1Spatial Management Suite, 1Spatial’s data management environment, provides a suite of products to help plan, maintain and publish spatial data, and automate production workflows. By using Oracle Exadata Database Machine, 1Spatial can deliver highly efficient, secure and scalable solutions that will help companies manage their spatial big data.

Oracle Exadata Database Machine delivers extreme performance and is the ideal database platform for OLTP applications, data warehouses, as well as the varied and unpredictable workloads of cloud computing.  It is a complete package of servers, storage, networking, and software that is scalable, secure and redundant.

The 1Spatial Management Suite automates many spatial data management processes, and is designed to manage high volumes of spatial data extremely efficiently. Oracle Exadata Database Machine provides the ideal environment to further optimise the management suite’s performance.

“The demand and availability of spatial data continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, and, as a result, clients require a powerful software and hardware solution to manage their growing spatial big data holdings,” commented Duncan Guthrie, Strategic Alliances Director, 1Spatial.  “By combining Oracle Exadata Database Machine’s performance with the 1Spatial Management Suite of products, users benefit from a powerful environment for the real-time management of spatial data.”

“Technical know-how, expertise and a successful relationship with Oracle motivated 1Spatial to become an Oracle Exadata Database Machine reseller. In the current market conditions, a solution that simplifies IT to its core, presents an opportunity for Oracle and 1Spatial’s joint customers to minimise costs and radically increase performance,” commented Will O’Brien, Vice President of Alliances and Channels, UK and Ireland for Oracle.

Update 23/10/2013: I was given incorrect information regarding 1Spatial losing its reseller status for Pitney Bowes software. 1Spatial remains a Pitney Bowes reseller, with a long-term agreement in place. I apologise for any confusion caused, to both readers and staff at 1Spatial and Pitney Bowes.
