Bentley acquires transport simulation firm, INRO

Bentley Systems has acquired Canadian firm INRO Software, a specialist in multimodal transportation planning, simulation and mobility visualisation.

The acquisition is intended to better position Bentley in the mobility and transportation digital twin sectors as cities prepare for the introduction of autonomous vehicles and other technologies.

Montreal-based INRO has provided mobility simulation and modelling services for transport operators and government agencies for more than 40 years.

It offers multimodal transportation planning systems for traffic forecasting, a vehicle-based simulation platform for traffic planning, and visualisation solutions that use analytics and geospatial datasets.

INRO’s client list includes Transport for New South Wales, Transport for London and the Washington State Department of Transportation.
