AAM has signed an agreement with EGS Australia to conduct bathymetric LiDAR surveys for the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP).
HIPP is a commercial acquisition program, managed by the Australian Hydrographic Office, that aims to complete hydrographic survey activities that contribute to national charting priorities, along with oceanographic and marine geophysical data collection.
“Since our initial partnership in 2005, EGS and AAM have worked together on numerous hydrographic and geophysical surveys,” said EGS Australia General Manager, Anthony Pyne.
“We have worked hard since the very beginning of the HIPP tendering process to present our best solution, strategically aligned with HIPP technical and logistical interests, as well as the Commonwealth’s Australian Industry Capability (AIC) criteria.”
“The combination of AAM, a Woolpert Company, and EGS Australia ensures world-leading bathymetric LiDAR technology is available in support of HIPP’s objectives for efficient, effective and sustainable hydrographic survey,” said Brian Nicholls, AAM Managing Director and Woolpert’s Asia-Pacific Vice President.
Nicholls added that one of the objectives is to obtain full, high-quality bathymetric coverage of Australia’s Exclusive Economic Zone by 2050. “This partnership directly supports that effort,” he said.
EGS is one of the founding panel members of HIPP and has so far completed surveys in Broome, the Torres and Bass Straits, as well as a multiyear tidal infrastructure project in the Torres Strait.
Woolpert, which acquired AAM in 2021, has recently supplied topographic and bathymetric LiDAR and imagery to Vanuatu, Tonga and the Cook Islands.
