Dedication to professionalism honoured at the 2019 Surveying Consultancy Excellence Awards in Brisbane.

The awards night took place on the waterfront at Customs House in Brisbane on June 6, a key component of the Surveying 2019 National Congress, run by Consulting Surveyors National.

To accommodate for firms of varying capacity, awards were presented across small, medium and large categories, based on number of employees. Takig out the large consultancy category for the second year running was Taylors.

CEO Richard Cirillo said he was immensely proud of his 160-strong team. “We are overwhelmed to be the winners of this award for the second time and I’m exceptionally grateful to my team for their ongoing commitment to the improvement of our culture and professionalism,” he said.

“We embrace innovation and technology to provide better service to clients, foster both personal and professional growth in our teams, celebrate diversity and inclusion, and are firmly committed to a ‘safety first’ culture.”

SDG Land Development Solutions (SDG) from Baulkham Hills in Sydney claimed the title in the medium-sized consultancy class. Managing director Craig Turner said that he was thrilled by the result.

“From technical seminars to the engagement of external consultants to assist graduate surveyors in their preparation for surveying registration examinations, SDG is committed to furthering the professionalism of our staff,” he said.

“But we also prioritise the health of our employees and offer many extra benefits, including an Employee Assistance Program for team members and their immediate families which is available when emotional and psychological support is required.”

Australian Survey Solutions from Bowral in the NSW southern highlands won the small consultancy category.

Paul Brandon, Managing Director, says the company is committed to becoming a great example of a truly professional, community-focused company.

“The key is to take great care of your employees, allowing them to take great care of your clients. Right from the word go we put this goal in place and are continually evolving and improving our model of employee and client care. We ensure that the latest technology is integrated into our processes so that we can provide a product beyond the client’s expectations,” he said.

Gerry Shone, President of Consulting Surveyors National and part of the judging panel for the awards, noted that “The judging panel were impressed by the way in which the management team at Australian Survey Solutions were dedicated to personal and company development, implementing extensive business management systems which ensure quality outcomes. The company has two assistants who track the progress of jobs, note the current status and facilitate regular communication with clients – it’s fantastic to see this dedication to quality.”
