Topcon Positioning Systems has released two new reflectorless total station series featuring one of the fastest electronic distance measurement (EDM) rates on the market.
The ES series is available in 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 arc second accuracy models, while the OS series is available in 1, 2, 3, and 5 arc second accuracy models. Both series have a non-prism operating distance of 500 m, and 4000 m with a prism.
The new reflectorless total station series’, the ES series and the OS series, incorporate five exclusive new features designed to increase productivity, accuracy, speed of measuring and work, and security.
The five exclusive features on Topcon’s new total stations are:
- Surveying dark and/or wet surfaces at long range
- Surveying from the pole without using radios
- Measuring tight corners and narrow objects
- Saving time through best-in-class EDM rate
- Instant software/firmware updates in the field, along with remote location of a lost or stolen unit.
An extra feature on the Topcon OS series total station is its new MAGNET Field software, which combines large, easy-to-use icons with touchscreen ease of use.
“Topcon’s MAGNET Field on-board, run by a Microsoft Windows CE6 computer is just one component of our overall MAGNET Solution,” said Garry MacPhail, survey manager with Position Partners, Topcon’s national distributor,
“MAGNET covers everything a surveyor or project manager might need, from data collection, to CAD, data manipulation and reporting, to data exchange, and cloud-based project management in a cloud-linked environment.
MacPhail said that the ES series total stations were further enhanced through having a 36 hour battery life from a single charge, making it possible to work almost a full week without recharging.
Additional features of the ES and OS series include:
- Metal chassis; IP66 water/dustproof rating
- Control panel with 10-keypad and large LCD screen
- Environmentally protected USB port data storage
- Standard temperature range of -20C to +50C (with lower and higher temperature options available)
- One-key-touch functionality.
