NSW to view education assets spatially

The New South Wales Department of Education and Training has a new mapping interface for its Asset Management System (AMS).

Developed by supplier Omnilink, the system allows users to visualise their asset data across 3,000 sites geographically.

Users at the department traditionally viewed asset data on Oracle forms.

Omnilink blended Oracle forms with the ESRI ArcGIS Javascript API technology platform to allow users to visualise their data through the mapping interface without the need for a separate application.

Omnilink is also responsible for all spatial data management of the NSW Department of Education and Training, which means recording all spatial data sets used within the asset management system application, including sourcing and brokering of data sets from other government and commercial organisations.

OMNILINK tasks include recording of all data received from external sources and the updating of a spatial data registry.
