GeoNext 2015 has announced that this year’s conference will feature a two stream program, including a stream of content and discussions curated entirely by SSSI (the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute). The conference will be held 19 August at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and is co-located with SSSI Victoria.
The highlights of the new SSSI stream include:
- Australian datum modernisation – Dr Don Grant, Associate Professor in Geospatial Science, RMIT University.
- Building the new Melbourne – Peter Seamer, CEO, Metropolitan Planning Authority, Victoria.
- The plan of subdivision as an artefact of community knowledge – Serene Ho and Abbas Rajabifard, University of Melbourne.
- International property measurement standards – Dr Piyush Tiwari, Assistant Dean, Architecture and Planning, University of Melbourne.
- ICSM projects with the emphasis on Cadastre 2034 – Mike Burdett, Surveyor-General of South Australia.
- FIG Working Week 2016 in Christchurch, and Commission 1 updates – David Mitchell, Associate Professor in Geospatial Science, RMIT University.
GeoNext looks to highlight the innovators in the spatial industry – especially those creating value in the areas of location-based services, smart cities, intelligent transport, big data, augmented reality and the wide swath of sectors and industries that have recently come to realise the value in location information.
This will be the fourth edition of GeoNext but the first time the event has been held in Melbourne. In addition to the surveying stream the event will incorporate three plenary sessions, the GeoNext conference stream, a trade exhibition, pre-show workshops and the popular hackfest competetion.
There are a limited number of sponsorship and exhibition opportunities still available at GeoNext. Contact Troy Hale on +61 (2) 8586 6128 for more information.
