Komatsu announces a suite of ‘Smart Construction’ products, to be managed via a dashboard built by Cesium.
Having long-embraced machine control and automation technologies, the Japanese machinery maker announced the new itiative at the recent CONEXPO-CON event in Las Vegas, California.
“Together, Komatsu and Cesium are bringing a new era of innovation to the construction industry,” said Rod Schrader, chairman and CEO of Komatsu’s North American operations.
“As experts in 3D data visualisation, computer graphics, and open source software, Cesium’s technology will help power our Smart Construction Dashboard.”
Material released by Cesium indicates that the dashboard will allow users to monitor changes to construction sites over time from a web portal, comparing architectural plans against data onsite — supporting CAD/BIM models, drone surveys, and construction-machine collected data.
Cesium CEO Patrick Cozzi said he was proud of his firm’s capability in 3D visualisation and precise positioning.
“We are proud that visualization and analytics with the hallmark precision of Cesium will provide technology for the industry’s digital transformation,” he said.
