The Smart Cities 2020 conference is the latest casualty of measures in the wake of Covid-19 in the geospatial space.

The event was due to be held in Melbourne over May 28 and 29.

In the light of uncertainty and bans on public gatherings, the organisers made the announcement via email this morning, with the following statement:

‘Our primary concern is for the health and wellbeing of delegates, speakers and our staff, and in the current climate, it would not be feasible to proceed as we had planned.

We are currently working with the venue on a revised date for the event, and will be in touch once this has been confirmed.’

Smart Cities joins Locate20, the Geospatial World Forum and GeoConnect Asia in the roster of global spatial events to be postponed due to the novel coronavirus Covid-19.
