Young and emerging professionals have until 31 August to submit their abstract proposals for November’s Digital Earth Summit/Locate26 YEP forum.
The young and emerging professionals (YEPs) forum will take place on the first day of the combined conference, Tuesday, 24 November, between 10:00am and 5:00pm.
The forum is intended to help YEPs network and share ideas with one another, as well as make more contacts within the wider geospatial community.
It will be split into two parts:
- An interactive session where new skills will be taught that can be applied in participants’ workplaces and careers; and
- A symposium, where the YEPs will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas and projects to the wider industry.
Supports and showcases
Honours, Masters and PhD students, as well as early career working professionals, are being encouraged to submit abstract proposals covering their research projects, case studies or innovative ideas.
The forum will offer a friendly, welcoming and supportive environment for them to showcase their work and gain confidence in dealing with their peers.
Successful applicants will be asked to deliver a concise, 4-to-5-minute format presentation, followed by a group Q&A discussion.
Approved abstracts will also be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Spatial Science.

Grants are available
The Digital Earth Summit/Locate26 is offering support for young and emerging professionals, students and early career researchers to attend the event, thanks to the generosity of sponsors.
Grant recipients will have their full conference registration covered, including the welcome reception, plus access to the dedicated networking session. They’ll also receive up to $500 in funding for travel and accommodation support.
All recipients will have the opportunity to meet with the company/representative who provided the support, and attend a dedicated networking and mentoring event as part of the YEP symposium.
