Australia’s very own GIS People is taking on the world stage, becoming a finalist in an international awards program and announcing a US roll-out of its flag ship product.

The Brisbane-based company has been recognised as a finalist in the 2017 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards. This places GIS People among the top companies of over 2,800 entries from some 115 countries.

GIS People was selected as a finalist in the ‘Public Sector: Government Award’ due to the successful delivery of its flagship product Gruntify to its government customers. The spatial software provides cloud-based mobile data collection and collaboration, turning unwieldy business processes into logical, organised actions. Gruntify is a tasking and data management platform bringing together mobile, cloud and geospatial technologies.

Since its release in 2014, Gruntify has proven particularly useful for natural disaster relief management and civic issue management.

GIS People’s Founder, Igor Stjepanovic, says “When GIS People was conceived back in 2010, my vision was to help decision makers in any organisation understand and harness the power of location intelligence.”

“Seven years on, the success stories from many of our customers combined with this amazing award from Microsoft are strong validation of our early drivers.

“This year has already been massive for our business, but with our imminent expansion into the US market from June 2017, and this remarkable acknowledgement from Microsoft, we are very excited to see what lies ahead.”

The Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards recognise Microsoft partners that have developed and delivered exceptional Microsoft-based solutions during the past year.

GIS People said the key to making it as a finalist was sharing Microsoft’s cloud-first, mobile-first ethos. Gruntify is built on the Microsoft Azure cloud.

We are honoured to recognise GIS People of Australia as a Microsoft Partner of the Year,” said Ron Huddleston corporate vice president, One Commercial Partner, Microsoft Corp. “GIS People is a prime example of the expertise and innovation we see in our Microsoft partner community to deliver transformative solutions.”

Microsoft Australia’s Mark Leigh, Director for the Small and Midmarket Solutions and Partners, says, “Our partners are our lifeblood – crafting innovative yet pragmatic solutions using Microsoft technologies that are transforming the way our clients operate today, and positioning them for a successful tomorrow.”

“We know our local partners are world class and that’s why we are so delighted that eight local partners – out of a field of 2,800 applicants from 115 countries – have been named finalists in their categories – congratulations to GIS People for being selected as finalist in the Public Sector: Government Partner of the Year category.”

GIS People will be attending the Microsoft Inspire conference in Washington DC next month to celebrate with other Finalists and Winners.
