The Association of Public Authority Surveyors, NSW (APAS) annual conference for 2023 will be held at Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour, from 20 to 22 March 2023.
The theme for the event will the ‘Pirates of the Cadastre’. The program is being developed, with a call for abstracts currently in place (as of June 2022).
Important dates and deadlines to note, are:
- Abstract submission deadline: Friday, 23 September 2022
- Draft paper deadline: Friday, 18 November 2022
- Final paper deadline: Friday, 20 January 2023
The Country Surveyors Association of NSW Easter Conference 2023 will be held at the Novotel Sydney Central in Haymarket, Sydney, on 23 and 24 March 2023.
The annual conference is well attended by many surveyors, both members and non-members of the Association. Over the past 40 years have been held as far west as Broken Hill and Deniliquin, north to Armidale and Port Macquarie, south to Albury and Wagga Wagga and more centrally at places like Orange, Katoomba, Gosford and Nowra. These family orientated events have led to many enduring friendships across the whole of New South Wales.
Now in its 14th edition, Geospatial World Forum (GWF) has become a not-to-be-missed conference for professionals engaged in geospatial and allied sectors. It is a collaborative and interactive platform that demonstrates the collective and shared vision of the global geospatial community.
GWF is an annual gathering of geospatial professionals and leaders representing the entire ecosystem of public policies, national mapping agencies, private sector enterprises, multilateral and development organisations, scientific and academic institutions, and large end-users from government businesses and citizen services.
The Andy Thomas Space Foundation is looking forward to welcoming a global audience to the 15th edition of the Australian Space Forum, which will be held on Tuesday, 9 May 2023 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia.

The Space & Geospatial Collaborative Workshop is being jointly hosted by the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and SSSI in Adelaide on 10 May 2023, in between the first 2023 Australian Space Forum and the Locate23 Conference.
This inter-disciplinary workshop will provide an opportunity for professionals from both space and spatial sectors to connect and discuss the increasing synergy and collaborative opportunities that have resulted from Australia’s renewed commitment to space technology development and the requirements and capabilities of the modern spatial information industry. The spatial professional has been an enduring end-user of space applications such as PNT (positioning, navigation and timing), EO (Earth observation) and telecommunications.
The World of Drones and Robotics Congress New Zealand (WoDaRC NZ) is shaping up as an unmissable event for anyone involved in robotics, drones, AI, AgTech and data-led innovation. The overall theme for the FIG Working Week 2023 will be ‘Protecting our world, conquering new frontiers,’ which refers to the importance of looking ahead and discovering what will be needed in the future for our profession and at the same time make sure to preserve what works well today.

The National Surveying Congress 2023 will be held from 6 to 8 June at the Pier One Hotel, Wattle Bay, Sydney. This year, there will be an online attendance option for those who cannot attend in person.
This year’s congress — the theme for which is ‘Leading the Nation’s Growth —is an important opportunity for surveyors from throughout Australia to gather and discuss the issues facing the profession and collaborate with decision makers and influencers on initiatives to secure stability and growth for the future.
The highlight of the program each year is the Cadastral Leaders Panel, which sees all the Surveyors-General on stage speaking about changes and opportunities in their states and territories.
Cadastral case studies from across Australia and a session on building business skills and team resilience, promise to be engaging and highly informative sessions in this year’s program.
The National Surveying Consultancy Excellence Awards and Gala Dinner will be held on 7 June at the same venue.
RPAS in Australia Skies is back for 2023. The conference is the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems’ (AAUS) main event for the year and has established itself as a landmark event for the Australian drone industry, drawing interest from key government personnel, representatives from the regulatory and safety bodies, defence force, RPAS and UTM representatives, end users and academia.
The hybrid event will take place over two days and will include a combination of presentations and interactive panel discussions.
