The International Forum on Satellite-Derived Bathymetry 2019
Esteemed speakers and guests from hydrographic offices, marine industry, service providers and research institutes around the world will gather for Australia’s first SDB Day in May 2019.
Satellite Derived Bathymetry (SDB) is a method for providing high-resolution water depth data in shallow water environments. These waters are notoriously difficult and expensive to access. The method combines satellite imagery with advanced algorithms to provide affordable and accurate data, and all within a relatively quick turnaround time.
The forum addresses the urgent need for both users and producers of SDB to jointly discuss capabilities, standards, data integration and handling uncertainties in its application.
Unable to hold its scheduled 2021 NSW Regional Conference earlier in 2022, SSSI is now inviting the spatial community to join it for a special online seminar featuring some of the speakers from the original program, along with the announcement of the NSW winners of the 2021 Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards.
This seminar will focus on the importance, efficiency and innovation spatial data can provide in crisis management situations and will feature presentations on:
- Finding your Friendship Island amongst a sea of COVID restrictions — presented by Stella Blake-Kelly, Founder/Director, Cartisan
- Geospatial Intelligence: Providing real-time insights supporting NSW State Emergency Service’s emergency management response — presented by Melissa Daley, Manager, Geospatial Intelligence Systems, NSW State Emergency Service
- COVID-19 Near Me: Trials and tribulations — presented by Kenneth Tsang, Director, jxeeno
The ITS Australia Summit 2022 in Brisbane will feature a strong industry program over three days driven by abstract submissions & invited keynote presentations, and will include technical tours & demonstrations, cutting edge industry exhibition, workshops, panel discussions, and an exciting social program.
As Australia’s leading transport technology event, Summit will demonstrate new insights and initiatives that will determine our path toward an accessible and automated future transport network.
RPAS in Australia Skies is back for 2023. The conference is the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems’ (AAUS) main event for the year and has established itself as a landmark event for the Australian drone industry, drawing interest from key government personnel, representatives from the regulatory and safety bodies, defence force, RPAS and UTM representatives, end users and academia.
The hybrid event will take place over two days and will include a combination of presentations and interactive panel discussions.
The conference will cover:
- RPAS related policy and regulatory updates from Australian and international government agencies.
- UAS Traffic Management, low-level airspace and integrated airspace systems
- Industry challenges and perspectives
- Continuing development of a professional and safe industry.
- Emerging technologies and innovative solutions enabling RPAS integration in Australian airspace.
- Emerging applications — benefits, viability and social acceptance
- Case studies of drone use and challenges in emergency services, infrastructure inspection, delivery, mining, and agriculture.
The Indo-Pacific Space & Earth Conference will delve into technologies that can be applied both on Earth and in space — from AI and robotics to remote operations. All industries from mining, oil and gas, agriculture, medicine and more can benefit from investing resources into these technologies.
Supported by key industry players and the government, the goal of the conference is to bring everyone together to discover new innovations and capabilities to create future opportunities.

The 2023 ACT Geospatial Conference and Excellence Awards will bring together colleagues old and new to hear the latest updates from across the local geospatial industry.
The call for abstracts for the event is now open. Any topic of interest to the geospatial industry is welcome, including surveying (cadastral, engineering, hydrographic, mining), GIS, remote sensing and geodesy, or broader topics such as new technology, diversity and workforce management.
The deadline for submission of abstract proposals closes at midday on Tuesday, 3 October.
The Geospatial Excellence Awards Reception will be held at the conclusion of the conference sessions, giving attendees the chance to enjoy drinks and canapes whilst networking and celebrating the award winners.
