During 2020 an expert group drafted the SPACE+SPATIAL Industry Growth Roadmap 2030 – a national snapshot for Australian professionals to better understand the bold new future that’s rapidly approaching and what it means for them, their careers, their organisations and all of Australia.
The National Steering Committee is seeking feedback on the Roadmap from spatial professionals of all levels across the country. There are a number of ways to get involved, one of which is to participate in this SSSI and SIBA|GITA SPACE+SPATIAL Roadmap Online Session.
You will hear about the key plans, activities and issues and have the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with colleagues about your thoughts on the Roadmap Consultation Paper and the topic in general.

Supported by the Australian Space Agency, the South Australian Space Industry Centre and SmartSat CRC, the 12th Australian Space Forum will provide an opportunity to stimulate ideas, share information about emerging technologies and network with space sector leaders and the broader community.
Participants will be able to attend in-person at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia, or virtually through the event’s global interactive platform.
Forum sessions will include international panels covering the following thematic areas:
- National and international space trends
- Moving from cubesats to larger satellites — building Australian expertise and capability
- Reimagining the social, environmental and economic opportunities enabled by Earth observation technologies
- On-Earth and off-Earth remote operations, in the context of human exploration as well as applications right here on Earth

Registrations are now open for the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors (AIMS) Kalgoorlie Regional Seminar, which will be held at the Kalgoorlie Bowling Club on Friday, 29 October.
The day will start at 2:30pm with an optional lawn bowls and beers social occasion, followed at 4:00pm by AIMS sessions and a sponsor interaction session. Drinks and nibbles will be supplied. Sponsors include AAM, Arvista, Caroni, Deswik, GeoCue Australia, HL Geospatial and Maptek.

In partnership with the Australian Space Agency, the Space Industry Association of Australia will host the Southern Space Symposium at the National Press Club in Canberra on 29-30 November 2021.
The Southern Space Symposium is the Australian space industry’s flagship annual conference, bringing together space industry experts and decision-makers from across Australia. At a pivotal moment, the Southern Space Symposium will this year bring space industry together with government and parliament for two days in Canberra to help shape the future agenda for Australian space’s aspirations.
Participants will include federal government departments and agencies, international agencies and missions, defence and space prime contractors, listed space companies, academic and research organisations, small and medium enterprises, space start-ups, and individual space professionals.

The SSSI 2021 Victorian Surveying & Spatial Summit will be an opportunity for all Victorian surveying and spatial professionals to come together to learn, share and connect. The theme will be ‘Digital Transformation: Our Future’.
The one-day event will take place at the Novotel on Collins, Melbourne, and will be followed in the evening by the presentation of the Victorian Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards — the Awards celebrate the outstanding work being undertaken by individuals and organisations in the region.
Discounts are available for SSSI members and students. You can choose to register just for the Summit or select full registration which includes a ticket to APSEA-V event as well. Tickets for APSEA-V only (individual or full table of 8) are also available.
There will also be a pre-summit breakfast on the topic of Diversity and Inclusion, and organisers encourage potential participants to consider purchasing a ticket when registering for the Summit.
