Supported by the Australian Space Agency, the South Australian Space Industry Centre and SmartSat CRC, the 12th Australian Space Forum will provide an opportunity to stimulate ideas, share information about emerging technologies and network with space sector leaders and the broader community.
Participants will be able to attend in-person at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia, or virtually through the event’s global interactive platform.
Forum sessions will include international panels covering the following thematic areas:
- National and international space trends
- Moving from cubesats to larger satellites — building Australian expertise and capability
- Reimagining the social, environmental and economic opportunities enabled by Earth observation technologies
- On-Earth and off-Earth remote operations, in the context of human exploration as well as applications right here on Earth
In partnership with the Australian Space Agency, the Space Industry Association of Australia will host the Southern Space Symposium at the National Press Club in Canberra on 29-30 November 2021.
The Southern Space Symposium is the Australian space industry’s flagship annual conference, bringing together space industry experts and decision-makers from across Australia. The Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) will convene the second United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) in Hyderabad, India from 10-14 October 2022.
Hosted by the Government of India through its Ministry of Science and Technology, the convening of the UNWGIC arises out of the mandate from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to the Committee of Experts to convene global forums to promote comprehensive dialogue on global geospatial information management with all relevant governments, international organisations and stakeholders.
With an overarching theme ‘Geo-Enabling the Global Village: No one should be left behind,’ the second UNWGIC will reflect the importance of integrated geospatial information to support sustainable development and the wellbeing of society, address environmental and climate challenges, embrace digital transformation and technological development, and catalyse vibrant economies.
The congress addresses the development and strengthening of integrated geospatial information management, its capacities and capabilities, and demonstrates the importance of international cooperation and coordination for building a human data and geography community, against the three pillars of sustainable development, for a shared future and a better world, leaving no one behind within an inclusive and equitable global society.
The UNWGIC will feature a high-level, plenary, special and parallel sessions. While the actual second UNWGIC program covers three days (11 – 13 October), the overall event will be a weeklong (10 – 14 October), and will include global and regional meetings, workshops and learning events, expert meetings and side events, including the eleventh plenary meeting of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP), as well as the annual meeting of the UN-GGIM Expanded Bureau.
The 2023 Disaster & Emergency Management Conference (DEMC) will be held from 11 to 12 July 2023 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
The DEMC brings together a cross sector mix of Australian & New Zealand defence, emergency services, business and community services at a leadership level to zone in on the current challenges and trends of the sector, in order to promote inter-agency collaboration and unity.
Over two full days, the DEMC will explore topics such as:

Delegates will hear the leaders in the field discuss these topics plus learn the latest innovations, research findings, current challenges and future predictions so that prevention, preparedness, response and recovery strategies are as strong as they need to be.
