Eugene Lamnek created GeoIT Solutions in 2002, and has been developing ArcGIS customizations, add-ins and applications ever since. In this time Eugene has developed numerous bushfire applications for the CFS and the CFA as well as water and wastewater modelling software, asset management applications and interfaces, and open source applications for numerous clients including SA Water, Santos and DEW.
The Treatment Reporting System (TRS) currently in pilot phase, will allow organisations to store and manage their bushfire mitigation tasks, as well as measuring these tasks against the requirements of the Bushfire Management Area Plans (BMAPs). The system will allow users to store bushfire mitigation tasks, their spatial extent, values of work, time of work and completion status. Tasks are mapped and measured against required actions, defined by within the CFS BMAPs. The TRS will provide an effective mechanism for reporting the adequacy of on ground mitigation work (potentially at a State-wide level) by measuring mitigation work against well-defined mitigation targets. Users of the system will include local government, state government, private organisations and potentially even individual landholders.

The Space Symposium attracts thousands of representatives of the space industry, governments, militaries, research agencies and more. The event brings all these groups together in one place to provide an opportunity to examine space issues from multiple perspectives, to promote dialog and to focus attention on critical space issues.
This year, the Space Symposium will be a hybrid in-person/virtual event, with the in-person sessions taking place in Boulder, Colorado, along with a vast exhibition display space which, this year, has been increased by 8,300 square metres.
Survey and Spatial NZ’s 2022 conference will be held from 1 to 3 August at the Novotel Lakeside, Rotorua. The conference is the biggest continuing professional development event of the year for NZ surveying and spatial professionals. It invites sharing of knowledge amongst peers, bringing together networking opportunities for all delegates and is an essential event for professional development and connectivity within the sector.
The choice of Rotorua as the location is apt, given the conference theme of ‘Turning up the Heat’. The organisers aim to stimulate discussion regarding challenges in regional areas, which include climate change and developments outside of Auckland.
