An industry-focused arm of the annual GEO Week conference will launch at the 2019 event in November, with half-price registrations available until September 27.
GEO Week, the Group on Earth Observations (GEO)’s annual symposium, is set to descend on Canberra in November — the first time that GEO Week has been held in Australia.
Hosted by the Australian Government, the conference will be organised by Geoscience Australia, who anticipate 700 delegates, along with ministers from GEO’s 105 member countries, technical experts, business leaders and heads of international non-profits.
This year’s event will also host the Ministerial Summit and Roundtable, the centrepiece of the event, which is held once every four years.
Nestled in amongst the GEO-XVI Plenary and side events programs, there will be a massive amount of Earth Observation activity to participate in.
Phil Delaney, FrontierSI’s Chief Innovation and Delivery Officer, said that GEO Week 2019 will be a key event for our business, and Earth observation businesses across Australia and the world.
“GEO Week 2019 will bring together the whole data supply chain, covering capture, supply, and processing, but most importantly analysis, insight and use of Earth observations. In short, all the ingredients needed to build future commercial and economic impact,” he said.
For 2019, another world first will be the addition of the Industry Track, which includes the GEO Week 2019 exhibition and a dedicated program aimed at developing relationships between the commercial sector and GEO community.
The organisers have indicated that booth space for the exhibition is almost gone, and there are still spaces available in the EO industry platform for Australian companies wishing to present.
Confirmed exhibitors include: the Australian Government, AfriGEO, CEOS, EARSC, Earth Observations Cameroon, ENVRI, Esri, the European Commission, GEO China SEC, HyVista Corporation Pt Ltd, INVAP SE, Japan GEO, Korea GEO and the United States.
“We are excited to be part of the first ever Industry Track, which demonstrates that government agencies from around the world are recognising the critical role business plays in innovating, operationalising R&D, and growing economies,” said Delaney.
“[The Industry Track] will be the perfect time for industry and government to work together to grow the size and impact of Earth observations across Australia and globally. It will be focused on solving problems, not discussing pixels, and will identify new markets, partners and collaborative opportunities.”
GEO Week 2019 will run from November 4-9, and the Industry Track will run from November 5-7 in Canberra, ACT. Learn more about the Industry Track at the GEO Week 2019 website, and register before September 27 for half price.
