The Tasmanian Spatial Information Council has announced that it has joined the state’s peak ICT body, TasICT.
The partnership brings together two professional communities that are fundamental to Tasmania’s digital and economic future.
TASSIC is well known to the geospatial community as the state body that connects industry, government and community through spatial information.
That information ranges from infrastructure planning and property transactions to environmental management and emergency response, underpinning many of the crucial unseen systems that keep modern society ticking over.
An example is TheLIST, Tasmania’s land information and mapping platform, which supports property, development, asset management and exploration across the state.
TasICT’s role as a peak ICT industry body sees it advocate for the growth of digital capability, technology innovation and industry collaboration.
The body’s work aligns closely with TASSIC’s view that data, digital capability and technology are essential to better policy, stronger industries and more resilient communities.
The partnership between TASSIC and TasICT will see them:
- Hosting joint events and networking opportunities;
- Encouraging greater cross-sector collaboration; and
- Aligning advocacy on issues affecting Tasmania’s digital and spatial ecosystem.
