Australian Map Competition winners

The “Special Peers Choice Award” goes to Land Tasmania’s Wellington 1:50 000 topographic map.

 

The winners of the Australian Map Competition 2015 were recently announced, with the “Special Peers Choice Award” going to Land Tasmania for their Wellington 1:50 000 topographic map

Entries to the Australian Map Competition include both static and dynamic maps, with both of these two categories split into three sub-categories. The Australian Map Competition is a joint effort between Surveying and Spatial Science Institute (SSSI) and the Mapping Sciences Institute, Australia.

As part of the Australian National Map Competition 2015, all the entrants for the “Static Maps” were on display at Locate16 and were judged by their peers.

The “Dynamic Maps” were presented at the International Symposium on Mobile Mapping Technology (MMT2015),  9-11 December 2015, Sydney, Australia. Participants at MMT2015 conference conducted their own “Special Peers Choice Award” for that category, which was award to both Wuhan Geomatics Institute for their Interactive Panoramic Video Map and Nathaniel Jeffrey, for his Melbourne 1945 historical map.
