Esri challenge

Esri has launched its Human Health and Climate Change App Challenge, with more than $15,000 offered in prizes. The competition is seeking people across all industries to create apps that help communities visualise, understand and combat the health impacts of climate change.

The app challenge is part of Esri’s effort in support of the White House Climate Data Initiative under US President Obama’s Climate Action Plan.

Participants are encouraged to create apps using Esri’s ArcGIS platform and use open data and Esri apps, maps, services, and APIs. Apps should help both private and public organisations combine open data to gain new insights into the impacts of climate change on health, aid decision making and help the public to take action.

The app challenge is open to international entrants across all industries. The competition opened 1 June 2015 and will close 14 August 2015.

Judges will select the top three apps to be highlighted at the Esri Health and Human Services GIS Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, 14-16 September 2015.
