Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) has released a new self-levelling rotating laser, the RL-H4C, which includes a significantly longer range, higher accuracy, improved self-levelling and the longest battery life in its class – as well as Topcon’s standard five-year warranty on laser products.
“The RL-H4C replaces Topcon’s industry standard RL-H3 series of rotating lasers, and satisfies increased demands for job site durability, range, accuracy, versatility and cost-effectiveness.” said Tony Vanneman, TPS’s construction product marketing manager.
In combination with the new LS-80L laser receiver, the RL-H4C “increases operating range to 800 metres, more than a 100% increase over previous models – and is the longest range for its price level,” Vanneman said. “It also includes ±10 arc-seconds horizontal accuracy and ±5 degrees self-levelling range.”
“The RL-H4C has the longest battery life in its class: 100 hours with the four D size alkaline batteries, or 60 hours with the optional Ni-MH rechargeable battery kit,” he said. It can also operate with AC power, enabling battery recharge on-the-go.
The laser includes single-axis manual slope capability for grade-matching setting and IP66 protection against dust and water, while large dual handles are designed to make carrying and setting up easy.
Ben Davis, construction products manager with Position Partners, Topcon’s Australian distributor, said the new RL-H4C self-levelling laser had a very wide range of applications across many different project types.
“Because the RL-H4C combines slope functionality and long-range capabilities in a single laser, it is versatile enough to handle machine guidance, site grading, setting up concrete work for foundations and footings, checking site excavations and all types of levelling jobs,” he said.
