The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australasian Hydrographic Society.

The agreement will see both organisations collaborate on providing Continuous Professional Development accreditation, along with seminars and workshops to benefit professional hydrographers in the region.

“SSSI is very pleased to sign this important agreement with AHS. This agreement will foster a high level of collaboration and will benefit the SSSI Hydrography Commission and its practitioners,” said Dr. Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse FRGS FSSSI, President, SSSI.

The SSSI Hydrography Commission and Australasian Hydrography Society have committed to meeting regularly to ensure continued cooperation, and intend to collaborate on integration, promotion and dissemination of the other’s publications, sharing facilities and participating in the other’s committees.

“The Australasian Hydrographic Society is pleased to sign this agreement with the SSSI, that extends and deepens our relationship with the SSSI and in particular the SSSI Hydrography Commission,” said Steve Duffield, president of the Australasian Hydrographic Society.

“As a learned body, it is very important that we have a strong relationship with the professional body for the benefit of both our members.”

World Hydrography Day will be celebrated on June 21, 2020, and the occasion will be marked with a webinar exploring the theme of autonomous technologies for bathymetry and hydrography.
