Spatial Source webinar looks at mobile mapping for digital twins

By on 15 September, 2020

Join Spatial Source editor Dan Bishton on 23rd September for a webinar looking at how users can benefit from the recent partnership between Bentley Systems and GeoSLAM, the leader in mobile scanning.

The two companies recently formed an alliance to provide rapid reality capture and analysis for digital twins of complex urban mapping projects.

In this webinar, Bentley’s Reality Modelling Product Sales Engineer Glen Burke will be joined by Roberto Vargas, the Regional Manager, APAC, for GeoSLAM.

The two will explore how organisations working in Construction, Utilities and more can capture LiDAR and high-resolution imagery using GeoSLAM’s first generation ZEB Discovery, and then bring this data into Bentley’s digital twin software for downstream data management, viewing, analysis and sharing.

“With Bentley’s recent acquisition of Orbit GT we are excited to now work closely with our new partners like GeoSLAM, a global leader in scanning technologies, to offer an end-to-end reality modelling solution,” said Bentley’s Glen Burke. “We are already seeing a lot of interest in this workflow here in Australia, particularly in the construction, utilities and mining sectors, which we’ll be sharing more on during the webinar.”

The webinar will cover rapid modelling of utility assets using the GeoSLAM ZEB Discovery and automated feature extraction of this data using Bentley’s Orbit 3DM software, and how to bring this data online to make it accessible and usable to all project stakeholders. Additionally, the team will look at use cases for utility asset inspection & survey.

“GeoSLAM is the world-leading SLAM technology provider and we are very excited to be working closely with Bentley on our ZEB-Discovery solution,” said Roberto Vargas.

“It synchronizes data from the ZEB Horizon, a LiDAR sensor powered by our industry-leading CT SLAM algorithm, with a high-resolution camera for rapid mapping,” he said.

Register here to join Glen and Roberto in our live webinar on 23 September at 1pm AEST.
