The next GeoRabble events are coming up in Melbourne and Parramatta in November.

GeoRabble will be held in Parramatta for the first time ever, on the evening of 18 November, which just happens to be World GIS Day. The venue will be the General Bourke Hotel, 74 Church St, Parramatta.

And GeoRabble Melbourne this year will be held in conjunction with the Locate26 Conference, on the evening of Tuesday, 24 November, at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

If you don’t know about GeoRabble events yet, they are completely informal get-togethers of geospatial professionals from all parts of the sector, especially GIS practitioners. Each event usually includes a few topical industry talks or presentations given by local experts.

Now in their 13th year, GeoRabble events are run by volunteers, supported by sponsors and are free to attend — there’s no membership and no formal organisational structure. (You can read the ‘manifesto’ here.)

Registration is required for this year’s Melbourne GeoRabble, as it will be held inside the Locate26 venue. But the good news is that registration is purely a formality, as it is completely free.

The event will run from 5:45pm to 7:00pm, with pizza and drinks provided courtesy of Locate26.

Registration will also be required for the Parramatta event, but details were not ready at the time of writing – keep an eye on the event page for announcements. The Parramatta organisers are also looking for speakers and sponsors, so please get in touch if you can help out.
