S-5B hydrography and S-8B cartography courses

By on 3 June, 2024

IIC Academy has announced that enrolments have opened for the 2024–25 deliveries of the S-5B Hydrographic Surveyor and S-8B Nautical Cartographers Programs.

Both programs are recognised by the FIG/IHO/ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers.

The S-5B program will commence in September 2024, and will comprise 13 weeks of online self-paced and instructor-led theory work that can be completed over a 23-week period, followed by a nine-week practical component to be held in Australia commencing May 2025.

IIC Academy reports that it is intended that the Australasian practical will be held on the Gold Coast, but there’s also the potential for practical deliveries to be made in Canada and Europe if student numbers are high enough.

The delivery of the S-5B program is designed to allow maximum flexibility for students and employers, reducing costs and minimising time away from participants homes or workplaces.

The S-8B Nautical Cartographers Program will be delivered as a 22-week-long global delivery commencing in September 2024. It aims to provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required to undertake nautical chart production.

Those interested in taking part in either of the courses should make contact via takhou.law@iictechnologies.com or hydrographicsurveyor@iicacademy.com.
