The NSW Land and Property Information has released Location+ 2016 – 2017 for public consultation. Government, industry and the community are being encouraged to make a formal submission to ensure Location+ delivers what is required to achieve a digital future with NSW as the leading jurisdiction for location intelligence. This strategy will be available via web service ‘Have Your Say’ for a period of two weeks from Friday, 18 September 2015 and will conclude on Friday, 2 October 2015.

Over the past three years the NSW Location Intelligence Strategy 2013 – 2015 has delivered an updated NSW Foundation Spatial Data Framework (FSDF) available openly under creative commons, released numerous State Government spatial web services and datasets and delivered the NSW Globe for the visualisation of data. It has contributed to the spatial component of the NSW Information Management Framework in form of custodianship and standards for spatially enabling information.

The implementation plan expires at the end of this year, and the draft Location+ 2016 – 2017 is an update on the Strategy and defines the deliverables to be achieved over the next two years. The Strategy is seeking to position NSW in becoming the leading Australian jurisdiction for location intelligence. The actions delivered over the past three years has set the foundation for releasing this vision. Building on the first iteration of the Strategy, Location+ seeks to realise a number of key initiatives, including:

  • NSW as the lead Australian jurisdiction for location intelligence service delivery and products
  • Move towards the legal recognition of digital spatial data
  • Vision and roadmap to develop a NSW Spatial Data Infrastructure
  • Pave the way forward to achieving a single state wide cadastre – Cadastre NSW.

More information about where to submit your feedback and to download the Strategy is available at http://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/consultations/location/?date=2015-09-18&id=1288
