Individuals and organisations have been recognised in New Zealand’s annual geospatial Professional Excellence Awards.
The Survey and Spatial New Zealand (S+SNZ) Professional Excellence Awards presentation was held in Auckland this month during the S+SNZ annual conference.
The prestigious awards are a way of acknowledging outstanding efforts and accomplishments across the span of geospatial activities and projects, as well as personal contributions to the sector.
This years’ award recipients are as follows:
- Technicians Award: James Ball
- Project Excellence Award: Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture for its Central Interceptor Main Works project
- Consulting Surveyors New Zealand Strategic Marketing and Communications Excellence Award: Harrison Grierson (large practice winner) and Definition Surveying Limited (mid-size practice winner)
- Cadastral Award: Michael Morris
- Land Development Award: Clayton McKenzie
- Engineering Surveying Award: Rodney Pilbrow
- Positioning and Measurement Award: Dr Chris Pearson
- Hydrography Award: David Mundy
- Spatial Award: Maksym Khovalko
- Bogle Young Professional of the Year Award: Brandon Taylor and Kate Downes
- McRae Supreme Award: Dr Chris Pearson.
Also included in the gala ceremony was the conferral of Fellowship on three worthy individuals: Dr Paul Denys, Neale Faulkner and Andrew Blackman.
The honour of Fellow is conferred by S+SNZ on individuals who have rendered eminent service and have been nominated by their peers.
Another honour conferred this year was the awarding of Honorary Membership on Thomas Gibbons, a lawyer specialising in land law, unit titles and resource management, who recently finished nine years of voluntary service on the S+SNZ Board.
Honorary Membership is conferred by the S+SNZ Council on individuals who have given significant service to the organisation, or who are prominent in a field that is aligned with the aims of the S+SNZ.
