The Geospatial Sciences Victoria event on the 24th will bring together industry, academia, government and students.

The inaugural Geospatial Sciences Victoria Futures Forum will be held at RMIT University in Melbourne on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

The half-day event will feature presentations from leading authorities from industry and academia, as well as presentations from students.

A highlight will be a panel discussion featuring representatives from industry, academia, government and the student community, giving delegates a chance to engage directly with experts and contribute to important conversations about the future direction of the geospatial sector.

In an indication of the growing impact of AI, presentations and discussions on various aspects of the technology will comprise around half of the program.

As Spatial Source reported in June, the GSV is one of the new state-based bodies that has formed since the demise of the Geospatial Council of Australia last year.

The organisation is now formally incorporated and has launched its website.
