New product makes 2D images 3D

By on 14 December, 2010

A new product from Geocarto allows remote sensing professionals and scientists to add a third dimension to 2D satellite images or aerial photos.

The firm says the 3D satellite images and aerial photos enhance visualisation of terrain and facilitate monitoring of construction projects, and are more impressive for displays and exhibitions.

The firm requires 2D digital images or stereo pairs of digital images, and then uses lenticular technology to convert them to 3D.
Geocarto is a Hong Kong-based reseller of satellite images from SPOT-5, QuickBird, WorldView-1,  WorldView-2, IKONOS and GeoEye-1 amongst others.
