The ninth annual Mapped Out conference, hosted by the Riverina Spatial Information Group (RivSIG) and the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC), will be held at the Convention Centre, Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga on Thursday 17th October 2013.

The theme for this year’s Conference is ‘Maps on the Move’. The Conference is a great opportunity for people working in regional NSW in both local government and the private sector to keep abreast of the latest technology and geographical information systems that can be utilised in their day-to-day work.

Mapped Out will highlight the diversity of applications for spatial data, geographic information systems and their supporting technologies.

Guest speakers with local and national experience will be showcasing the use of spatial data to enhance the operation and delivery of government services.

Speakers and topics inlcude:

  • NSW Flood Database – Elliot Simmons, NSW State Emergency Service
  • Regional Transport Planning – Tony Kelly & Daniel Smith, Coolamon Shire Council
  • Forty Years Of Landsat: The Landsat Data Continuity Mission – Bruce Forster, Asia-Pacific Remote Sensing
  • There’s a mApp for that! – Barrett Higman, Alpine Shire Council
  • Reforming NSW Vegetation Information – Ron Avery, Office of Environment & Heritage
  • Mapping Census Data – David Baker & Simon Best, Australian Bureau of Statistics
  • Mapping Weather Information – Robert Dahni, Bureau of Meteorology
  • Using Spatial Data for Executive Decision Making – James Davis, Junee Shire Council
  • LPI Web Services – Greg Windsor, NSW Land & Property Information

The event is a professional development event endorsed and supported by the Surveying & Spatial Services Institute (SSSI) who will also provide a review of current activities.
