The council has already uploaded 4.4 million images from street level images to map over 2,250km of its road network.
The municipality south of Brisbane has been using the open source platform to upload vehicle-captured images to improve management of its road asset infrastructure.
Private content in the images is blurred before publication, according to the council, which also says that the platform’s open standards approach greatly simplifies ease of use.
Logan City Council Acting Roads Director Daryl Ross said it was an efficient way of capturing and examining large amounts of data.
“Logan City Council handles a vast local road network,” Ross said.
“This system is another tool we can use to track any issues that arise and use resources where needed.”
