Australian aerial imagery provider, nearmap, has launched nearmap Solar, a service aimed at providing Australia’s solar industry with instant client quotes and location-aware power calculations without having to leave the office.

Available for all nearmap subscribers, nearmap Solar combines nearmap’s PhotoMaps technology platform and measurement tools with the ability to precisely place virtual solar panels on the prospect’s roof. It therefore saves solar installation professionals valuable time otherwise spent visiting and measuring the roof in person.

“Nearmap Solar is our second step following the recent launch of nearmap Rail to broaden our customer focus by meeting the needs of specific verticals and adding value to how these customers run their business,” said nearmap’s Managing Director Simon Crowther.

The new application features a library of more than 1,000 Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved solar panel templates and the ability to add and define additional custom panels. It adds to the quote report a recently-captured, high-resolution image of the prospect’s property overlaid with photorealistic solar panels. The application also features a location-aware solar power calculation report that demonstrates the power output and cost savings data.

“No other tool can provide this highly competitive industry with the means to quote faster and increase revenue,” said Mr. Crowther. “In just a few clicks you can add virtual panels, calculate energy output and generate a detailed solar report. nearmap Solar can also be used for prospecting, preparing designs and installations as well as post-install audits, all through a web browser and without having to leave the office.”
