International GIS Day is next Wednesday 20 November, and, to celebrate it, there will be a free event held in the Brisbane CBD.

GIS Day is a global event that celebrates the real-world benefits of geographic information systems. The Brisbane event is open to anyone – from GIS experts to those that haven’t even heard of it before. As such, you’re encouraged to bring as many people as you like – from students to business operators.

Participants will be able to play with interactive maps, watch colourful presentations, enter competitions, explore the benefits of GIS, and chat to friendly experts about how GIS can help them.

The event will be held at The Riverside Centre at 123 Eagle St in the Brisbane CBD. Drop in at any time during the day to have a look around. The aim is to get everyone talking to each other about GIS and its benefits, so the more the merrier!

The event wouldn’t be possible without the assistance from GIS People, Esri Australia, Dialog IT, and AAM.

You can learn more about the event at the GIS Day Australia website.
