The Geospatial Council of Australia’s (GCA) annual Mentoring Program is now open for applications. Currently in its seventh year, the initiative is aimed at providing support and guidance to emerging professionals within the geospatial industry.

The GCA has put out a call for participants for the 2024 program, seeking both mentors and mentees.

The program has been a remarkable success, with growing participation each year since it began in 2018. Last year 51 mentors and 58 mentees took part.

Mentors have the chance to shape the future of geospatial professionals, expand their recognition as experts, gain new perspectives from mentees, and refine their leadership and mentoring styles.

Mentees benefit from the guidance of industry professionals, connect with seasoned experts, gain fresh perspectives from their mentors and observe effective leadership styles.

The program is free for mentees who are GCA members and for all mentors (whether a GCA member or not); a small fee of $77 applies to non-member mentees.

Accepted participants will be provided with resources they need, such as the program handbook, topic cards, online access to the Mentornity platform, and invitations to the online networking and panel session.

Applications, which close on Monday, 15 April 2024, can be made online — for mentors here, and for mentees here.

Queries can be sent to mentoring@geospatialcouncil.org.au.
