Deadline extended for the Maxar Spatial Challenge

There are a few extra days to jump in and register for the Maxar Spatial Challenge with a slew of generous prizes on the line.

It’s your last chance for the challenge, jointly organised by Maxar, Arlula and Consilium Technology, with registration now closing on August 24.

The competition calls on data scientists, software developers, GIS gurus and geoscientists to tackle a new or existing challenge facing urban or regional Australia.

The organisers have just released details of the prizes for first, second and third placeholders in both the urban and regional categories.

1st prize

Aud $5,000 cash or Aud $10,000 of archive imagery, plus:
• Up to Aud $3,000 travel/accommodation contribution to Engage APAC 2021
• 2 x welcome reception tickets to Locate 21 (Prize Presentation)
• Certificate of Award
• T-shirt

2nd prize

Aud $3,000 cash or Aud $6,000 of archive imagery, plus:
• 2 x welcome reception tickets to Locate 21 (Prize Presentation)
• Certificate of Award
• T-shirt

3rd prize

Aud $1,000 cash or Aud $3,000 of archive imagery, plus:
• 2 x welcome reception tickets to Locate 21 (Prize Presentation)
• Certificate of Award
• T-shirt

Participants can use their preferred GIS system, but will be given the option to use Maxar’s A-Wave platform, GBDX notebooks and 30cm resolution Earth observation imagery, with a 15cm ‘processed’ resolution.

Training sessions and mentorship opportunities will also be provided to participants, who must be based in Australia. Those competing will have around six weeks to submit their work, which must be in by November 9, 2020.
