Held on Sunday, 9th February, 2020, the SSSI National Bushfire Recovery Map-a-thon was a way for the national and international community to work together to map a total of 2,793,879 hectares affected by recent Australian bushfires with the focus being on burnt infrastructure. Speakers:
Dr Lesley Arnold (SSSI National Board Director) will give an overview of the Map-a-thon initiative and discuss overall logistics of planning; industry, government and NGO engagement; the challenges and overall execution of the event.
Nathan Eaton, Executive Director, NGIS Australia will give an overview of the technical set-up of this mammoth Map-a-thon and highlight some of the challenges and triumphs experienced.
This is a free event open to those who participated in the Map-a-thon or are involved in the surveying and spatial community.

Unable to hold its scheduled 2021 NSW Regional Conference earlier in 2022, SSSI is now inviting the spatial community to join it for a special online seminar featuring some of the speakers from the original program, along with the announcement of the NSW winners of the 2021 Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards.
This seminar will focus on the importance, efficiency and innovation spatial data can provide in crisis management situations and will feature presentations on:

The 15th International Conference on Spatial Information Theory, COSIT 2022, will be held in Kobe, Japan, 5 to 9 September, 2022. Established in 1993, the Conference on Spatial Information Theory (COSIT) is a biennial international conference series concerned with theoretical aspects of space and spatial information, aimed at advancing geographic information science and its emerging research frontiers.
The conference offers three (refereed) submission tracks with double-blind reviews: vision papers, full papers, and short papers. Embedded in the conference will also be an on-site mentoring program for doctoral students.

The IGNSS Association’s biennial international GNSS conference will return to UNSW Sydney from 7 to 9 February, 2024, where it will celebrate the first half-century of GNSS and look ahead to the next 50 years.
IGNSS 2024 will bring together experts, policy makers and emerging leaders from across the globe to examine the latest advances, present cutting edge research and discuss policy, market development and infrastructure.

BeGeo, an initiative of the Belgian National Geographical Institute (NGI), is an annual national event for the geo sector in Belgium.
The BeGeo conference combines with a geographic information fair to bring together a wide range of players from the public sector, academia, research, the private sector and associations. This year, the organisers have once again chosen Brussels Expo as the location for the event.
BeGeo says its vision is to be a platform where important players from the sector meet and thus actively contribute to the growth of the knowledge and competences necessary to tackle complex challenges and realise the great potential of geodata.
