As the investment centre of gravity related to space shifts towards leading economies in the Indo-Pacific, we must think together about shared opportunities, challenges and risks around the ‘Zone Above’.
In collaboration with The University of Western Australia (UWA), the Perth USAsia Centre is convening the 2018 In The Zone Conference, the latest in a series founded to provide a strategic forum for Indo-Pacific policymakers, advocates, business and academic leaders to grapple with issues of shared regional concern. This year’s In the Zone will focus on capability, security and expansion into space and is titled The Zone Above: The Indo-Pacific Era in Space.

Held on Sunday, 9th February, 2020, the SSSI National Bushfire Recovery Map-a-thon was a way for the national and international community to work together to map a total of 2,793,879 hectares affected by recent Australian bushfires with the focus being on burnt infrastructure. Dr Lesley Arnold (SSSI National Board Director) will give an overview of the Map-a-thon initiative and discuss overall logistics of planning; industry, government and NGO engagement; the challenges and overall execution of the event.
Nathan Eaton, Executive Director, NGIS Australia will give an overview of the technical set-up of this mammoth Map-a-thon and highlight some of the challenges and triumphs experienced.
This is a free event open to those who participated in the Map-a-thon or are involved in the surveying and spatial community.

The 2023 Disaster & Emergency Management Conference (DEMC) will be held from 11 to 12 July 2023 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
The DEMC brings together a cross sector mix of Australian & New Zealand defence, emergency services, business and community services at a leadership level to zone in on the current challenges and trends of the sector, in order to promote inter-agency collaboration and unity.
Over two full days, the DEMC will explore topics such as:

- Inter-agency and volunteer cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The 2023 NSW Geospatial Conference and Awards Dinner will take place on Thursday, 24 August at the PARKROYAL Parramatta hotel and convention venue.
The conference will be an opportunity for professionals from all corners of the geospatial world to come together and hear about recent innovative projects, the latest research and current activities from across the NSW geospatial community. It will also be a great chance to network and learn about all the latest technology from multiple exhibitors.
