The theme for this year’s conference:
Earth – Air – Fire – Water”

The conference theme was chosen to reflect the diverse nature of spatial and surveying sciences which is inherently a multidisciplinary pursuit. Individuals within the spatial and surveying industry undertake many projects and tasks from the conference theme. From monitoring weather systems using small IoT devices to sending multi million dollar satellites into space, the surveying and spatial science fundamentals form the critical building blocks for success.

The conference will provide individuals from the spatial and surveying industry the opportunity to learn, communicate, network and share inspiring ideas. Everyone is welcome to attend including young professionals, non-spatial professionals or people looking to diversify in their career.

From a concept that excited the industry to consider how we might rethink transport to a real world offering that is providing a new way to plan, book and pay for transport.

Mobility 2020 will be a VIRTUAL CONFERENCE.

Australia’s leaders in ITS Mobility and MaaS will bring together experts from industry, government and academia to learn and share ideas about the impact of COVID-19 on our industry and communities. Transportation, freight and logistics, and the transport and technology sector widely have been both massively impacted and deliver essential services. How are organisations and individuals adapting and learning through this crisis?

We will also look at behavioural change, how people are likely to work and study post the covid pandemic, what will be the impact on fare revenue and fare sharing, what are the new sets of challenges MaaS is trying to solve. Join online as key organisations will share covid success stories and how they are pivoting from the pandemic experience.

Now more than ever it is important to stay connected with industry, government and academia to maintain vital connections during a time where our industry is both working at the front lines and continuing to deliver on their existing important roles. Unable to hold its scheduled 2021 NSW Regional Conference earlier in 2022, SSSI is now inviting the spatial community to join it for a special online seminar featuring some of the speakers from the original program, along with the announcement of the NSW winners of the 2021 Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards.

This seminar will focus on the importance, efficiency and innovation spatial data can provide in crisis management situations and will feature presentations on:

The Tasmanian Spatial Information Council (TASSIC) will hold a Geospatial Workforce Development Forum on 9 November 2023, to help shape the future of the geospatial sector in Tasmania.

The Forum will bring together key stakeholders from education, employers, government and suppliers to address critical challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

The Forum will include presentations from representatives of industry, government and the education sector, as follows:

  • Paul Digney (Jacobs)
  • Rob Rowell (Insight GIS)
  • Ben Morris (Local Government Association of Tasmania)
  • Michael Krome (Australian Spatial Analytics)
  • Arco Lucieer (University of Tasmania)
  • Sam Ebert (TAFE NSW)
  • Troy Robbins (TasTAFE)

The event will conclude with a moderated discussion session led by Danika Bakalich (Geospatial Council of Australia).

The Forum will be a hybrid event with both in-person and online attendance options available, and it will employ the Menti-Meter program to facilitate discussions, ensuring that each delegate’s voice is heard and their input valued.
