Bose launches audio augmented reality frames

By on 29 January, 2019

Consumer audio giant Bose has launched a pair of sensor-laden sunglasses, in what the manufacturer calls the first commercial product to be embedded with its augmented reality platform.

The techy Bose Frames incorporate a high-spec wireless speaker and microphone system, allowing the wearer to stream music and access digital assistants, like a pair of wireless headphones integrated into a pair of sunglasses.

Unlike the pricey, bold and much-maligned Google Glass, these wearables don’t change what the user sees, but use a 9-axis head motion sensor and the mobile device’s GPS to ‘automatically add a layer of audio’, according to press materials.

The bold product debut has just gone on sale in the US, and can be purchased in Australia through third-party shopping service Big Apple Buddy ahead of an official Australian release.
