The Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of top spatial information enterprises and showcase the finest projects that the Victorian Spatial Industry has to offer. Projects and individuals attaining recognition at this premier event are deemed to be truly outstanding achievers and pre-eminent in their field.

“These awards recognise the innovation and activities of the industry in the lead up to the Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA). The winning entries for the Victorian Awards in 2013 will also be submitted to APSEA to be held in November,” said George Havakis, chair , Spatial Industries Business Association – Victoria.

VSEA provides a stepping stone for organisations and individuals to be nominated in the AsiaPacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) – the only awards for the Asia Pacific region that recognise the excellent achievements of both individuals and organisations engaged in the spatial information industry in this region at a single event.

“The Awards categories provide a range of opportunities for you to test yourself or your organisation against the best in Victoria and then Australia. Competing in these industry awards is an excellent form of marketing and promotion for your organisation.”

Previous years have seen an excellent standard of competition, with a diverse range of individuals and small, medium and large private, public and academic sector organisations vying for these prestigious awards.

“Every year, members of the Victorian spatial sciences community make significant contributions that impact across many sectors of society. The 9th Annual Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards is an excellent opportunity to recognise and reward these contributions,” said Chris Pettit, chair Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute – Victoria.

Industry Awards are open to any organisation — private, public, academic or not for profit —provided the evidence submitted relates to the two years immediately prior to the making of the application and relates to spatial activities. Private organisations can include sole traders, partnerships and corporations.

Activities completed more than two years ago may still be eligible in some extenuating circumstances. In such cases, entrants should apply for eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

Nominations for individual awards are to be provided by members of SSSI. The SSSI Regional Committee will nominate a judging panel to select the winners.

The gala dinner and awards presentation will take place on Thursday 12th September 2013, at the Plaza Ballroom, in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre.

Nominations for awards close 9 August 2013.
