Land Use Victoria (LUV) will now be known as Land Services Victoria (LSV), with the change having come into effect on 21 May.
According to LSV, the change “reflects our broader role in delivering land and property services for Victoria”.
LSV, part of the Department of Transport and Planning, is Victoria’s key body responsible for:
- land registration
- property information
- spatial data services and maps
- surveying
- land valuation
- geographic names
- government land policy and advice
- government land transaction oversight
In a Customer Information Bulletin circulated at the beginning of June, LSV said that apart from the change of name there have been no other alterations to practises, services provided or methods of interaction with the agency.
The only thing that its customers or clients will notice is a gradual roll out of the new name across websites, forms and communications.
During that roll out, any residual references to LUV should be taken as referring to LSV.
BOSSI sets out new schedule of fees for surveyors
Meanwhile, in NSW, the Board of Surveying & Spatial Information (BOSSI) has set out its new schedule of fees, to take effect from 1 July 2026.
The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2024 specifies that fees and deposits be adjusted annually in alignment with the CPI.
The new fees applicable from 1 July are as follows:
- Sitting a Board examination: $422 per subject
- Copy of entry in register of surveyors: $5
- Application for grant of registration: $98
- Application for restoration of registration: $537
- Application for replacement of certificate of registration: $98
- Registration as land surveyor or mining surveyor — registration in NSW only: $719 or, in the case of registration as both a land surveyor and mining surveyor, $909
- Mutual recognition registration administration fee: $537
- Application to be included in list of students of surveying or surveyor’s assistants: $129
- Application for certificate of authority: $129
