Garmin GPS Offers BirdsEye

By on 13 May, 2010

High-resolution BirdsEye satellite imagery is now available on Garmin GPS handsets.

Users can download and transfer unlimited high-resolution satellite images to a compatible Garmin unit, using BaseCamp software. The images can also be integrated into maps on handheld devices.

The images offer a detailed overview of a location, and include elements such as vegetation, rivers, roads and buildings. The information can be used to navigate features such as rivers and creeks, or to find a place to park a vehicle before setting off on a bushwalk.

The imagery is provided at three levels: standard, high and highest. Vector maps can be layered with the data to provide a real life view of the terrain. The product can be previewed in full resolution prior to purchase.
