Pacific GIS/RS User Conference 2014

The Pacific Geographical Information Systems/Remote Sensing Conference has attracted participants from around the Pacific Islands since 1999. This year’s conference will take place 16-19 November, in Suva, Fiji. The theme will be: Bridging Information Gaps by Creating Smarter Maps.

Each year the Conference covers a range of GIS/RS technologies and applications, including the management of resources of the small island Pacific nations. The conference will discuss current and upcoming trends in the geographic technology fields, such as LiDAR (light detection and ranging), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), recent progress in vegetation and land cover mapping, improvements in satellite technologies, applications in disaster reduction and climate change adaption, web mapping, and open source software.
