Spatial Vision Qld voting map

With the results of the 2014 Victorian Election finalised by the Victorian Electoral Commission late last year, Spatial Vision has now added these results to the ‘Its Your Vote’ website for completeness.

The results, like the pre-election seat margin estimates, are presented as coloured dots that indicate the margin by which seats were won. The site also identifies the number of votes that separated the winning candidate from the nearest rival after distribution of vote preferences for unsuccessful candidates. It is interesting to contrast the election results with the ‘New Seat Margins’ view that shows the pre-election situation and seat margins.

And this Saturday, Queenslanders go to the polls, so Spatial Vision has put together a site that presents a view of current electorate seat margins based on the 2012 results. Also included is a view of current unemployment rates, a key election issue, in relation to these seat margins. This site, like that for the Victorian election, is hoped to illustrate the role map visualisation tools can play in presenting electoral issues and in assisting community engagement and understanding.
