Brisbane GIS Day 2014, hosted by GIS People on Wednesday 19th November at QUT Gardens Point Campus, has a large number of competitions on offer, including the chance to win $5000 in the HERE-sponsored Map App Hack. To showcase all the competitions held on the day, a new section of the Brisbane GIS Day website has been launched.
Entrants of the Map App Hack can win $5000 if they develop the best ‘map app.’ Sponsored by HERE, this competition challenges individuals or small teams to develop a great entrepreneurial and creative app that makes use of spatial technology and open data on a smartphone app platform.
Also on offer is the Quadcopter competition (organised by CR Kennedy – land close to 3 targets with a model UAV in the shortest time to win high-tech gadgets), the Map Wall (submit your awesome maps), the Multimedia Comp (best Photographer and Videographer on the day will each win $500 worth of vouchers), the Schools Map Comp for kids to submit on the theme ‘Map Your World,’ and multiple easy-to-enter prize draws – just provide your details on the day to win.
Event host GIS People has also been working behind the scenes with the sponsors and exhibitors to develop a great program of talks and demonstrations, to be announced shortly via the Brisbane GIS Day Facebook page and Twitter account.
